SUMMARY:United Nations: 62nd Session Of The Commission For Social Development - CSocD62
DESCRIPTION:The 62nd session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD62) will focus on “Fostering social development and social justice through social policies to accelerate progress on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to achieve the overarching goal of poverty eradication”.  \nThe CSocD62 will focus on the emerging issue of “The Influence of Digital Transformation on Inclusive Growth and Development: A Path to Achieving Social Justice.” The Commission will also commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family. \nThe Commission will take place from 5 to 14 February 2024\, in Conference Room 4 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The CSocD62 will be broadcasted live at: https://webtv.un.org/en. \nPriority Theme\nFostering social development and social justice through social policies to accelerate progress on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to achieve the overarching goal of poverty eradication \nEmerging Issues\nThe Influence of Digital Transformation on Inclusive Growth and Development: A Path to Realizing Social Justice \nInternational Year of the Family\nCelebration of the 30th anniversary of the International Year of the Family \nReview of relevant UN plans and programmes of action pertaining to the situation of social groups\n(i) Outcome document of the high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the realization of the Millennium Development Goals and other internationally agreed development goals for persons with disabilities: the way forward\, a disability-inclusive development agenda towards 2015 and beyond\n(ii) World Programme of Action for Youth\n(iii) Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing\, 2002\n(iv) Family issues\, policies and programmes \nNGO Committee on Social Development\nThe NGO Committee on Social Development is dedicated to raising awareness and holding discussions on social development issues taken up by the UN System and in particular by the UN Commission for Social Development. The committee holds a Civil Society Forum and other capacity-building and outreach events on the occasion of the Commission. Membership is open to representatives of organizations and any interested persons concerned about social development issues. \n \nCivil Society Forum on the CSocD62 Priority Theme\, 9 February 2024 \nThe Forum is hosted jointly by UNDESA-DISD\, the NGO Committee on Social Development and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Foundation. The Forum is a time for NGOs worldwide to learn about each other’s work\, to prepare for the Commission\, including by work on position papers and interventions.
