SUMMARY:From Departure to Destination: Revitalising Regions for the Future
DESCRIPTION:Mapineq – Mapping inequalities through the life course \n  \nWe would be delighted to welcome you to the online event \n  \nFrom Departure to Destination: Revitalising Regions for the Future \nTuesday\, 25 February 2025\, 1:00-2:30 PM CET (Zoom) \n  \nMapineq invites you to a discussion on the growing regional disparities and how to break the vicious cycle many local communities find themselves in: population decline\, youth outmigration\, shrinking resources\, and the dismantling of essential services. In addition\, many of these areas are increasingly associated with populist movements and anti-migration sentiment\, further reducing their attractiveness for newcomers and investment. \nHow can these communities break free from this cycle? Can they become appealing enough to retain younger residents while also attracting new ones? Join our expert speakers as we explore practical examples and strategies for addressing local challenges\, fostering growth\, enhancing collaboration\, and revitalizing communities. The language of the meeting will be German\, and there will be German-English interpretation service available for international audience. \n  \nRegistration \n  \nSpeakers: \n\nElena Kountidou\, Managing Director\, Neue Deutsche Medienmacher*innen\nJan Paul Heisig\, Professor of Sociology\, Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung\nSamina Sultan\, Senior Economist\, Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln e.V.\nThomas Wobben\, Director for Legislative Works\, European Committee of the Regions\n\n  \nWe look forward to your participation in this important discussion!
