The port of Figueira da Foz is located in the Iberian Portugal-Irún corridor of the transeuropean network of transports, and has an important role in transporting goods between the Iberian Peninsula and the rest of Europe (mainly, between Castile and León and the Central Region). This port dedicates to Portuguese Atlantic coast short sea shipping, offering excelente national road acess (A8, Al 7, A14 and Al) and rail acess to the national and Spanish railway networks. Currently, this port offers regular shipping solutions for Morocco, France, UK, Netherlands and Germany, being functionally linked to the national North, West and Beira Alta Railways, having na internal connection to the terminals.
