Madalena is a Portuguese villa on the Pico Island, Autonomous Region of Azores, with about 2500 inhabitants. It is the seat of a municipality with 149.08 km² of area and 6,184 inhabitants.
The Municipality follows the model of hierarchical structure, composed of two divisions, the Administrative and Financial Division who is responsible for Human Resources, the Expedient, Archive and Documentation and the Accounting and Patrimony, the Informatics, the Tax and Licenses, the Provisioning and Community Funds and the Treasury; and the Works, Urban Services and Urban Planning Division, who is responsible for the Environment, Waste and Water, the Urban Management, the Municipal Inspection, the Municipal Works and Transport and the Warehouse, Workshop and Machine Park. There are still eight services in this municipality: the Veterinary Medical (which is currently under the responsibility of the Association of Municipalities of Pico Island), the Municipal Civil Protection, the legal service, cultural, tourism, library, social service and education, and youth, sport and entrepreneurship.
