Szczecin – a city with poviat rights, the capital and the largest city of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, located on the Odra and Dąbie Lake.
Szczecin is the third in terms of the area occupied (300.55 km²) and the seventh in terms of population city of Poland (almost 404,000 inhabitants). As a center of the cross-border metropolitan region, Szczecin also influences German border areas.
Szczecin is an important economic center of the region. There is a seaport, ship repair, yacht and sea shipping.
The city is a tourist center with a large number of monuments. It is an academic and cultural center (philharmonic, opera and operetta, numerous theaters, museums and cultural centers).
