Spending better for children through social policy – a report by OECD

The OECD report “Spending Better for Children through Social Policy” analyses how the level, allocation and design of social spending influence child poverty, material deprivation, educational achievement and health, while considering their implications for long-term social expenditure.

The results emphasize that comprehensive, coordinated policy frameworks are far more effective than isolated measures, stressing how concrete and coherent spending on children’s well-being is “both a social imperative and a sound economic investment”.

Investing in children today is key to preventing long-term challenges, such as poorer health, educational gaps, and reduced labour market opportunities.
