The ACT for Anaphylaxis Alliance is officially launched

On September 9th, 2026, Anaphylaxis Preparedness in Action: Creating Safer European Schools for People at Risk of Anaphylaxis marked the start of a new European collaboration on anaphylaxis safety, in which ELFAC is a partner.

The event took place at the European Parliament, where MEP Andras Kulja MD underlined the seriousness of anaphylaxis and why preparedness in schools matters.

He highlighted the role the European Union can play in closing the preparedness gap, bringing stakeholders together, sharing what already works across Member States, and supporting stronger, practical action. This is exactly why the launch of the ACT for Anaphylaxis Alliance matters: bringing this knowledge and experience together and turning it into concrete actions for safer schools across Europe.

The key messages addressed at the event included:

  • Fast access to emergency treatment
  • Safer, better-prepared schools
  • Trained and confident staff
  • Sharing best practices across Europe
  • Stronger EU action and coordination

For ELFAC, these initiatives represent the measures that need to be taken in order to better protect and take care of children. Children and young people should be able to learn, play, and socialize without fear, and families should be able to trust that school staff know how to recognize a reaction and act quickly. By participating in this collaboration, ELFAC continues to advocate strongly for policies and initiatives that prioritize the wellbeing of children in Europe. ELFAC will also be able to contribute the perspective of patients and families to create more effective and accurate changes for the future.

Finally, a call to action was presented by ACT for Anaphylaxis, setting the foundation for the Alliance’s next phase of work. “No Time to Lose — A European Call to Action” is the founding policy document of the ACT for Anaphylaxis Alliance, a European multi-stakeholder platform of patients, healthcare professionals, policymakers and industry partners. It was endorsed by both MEP Kulja and MEP Tomislav Sokol, and many other participants.

We invite organizations all across Europe to add their voice. Every endorsement helps keep anaphylaxis preparedness on the policy agenda.
