New government to start work in Germany

Germany voted for a new parliament at the end of February and after some weeks of coalition talks, a new chancellor was elected. The tenth German chancellor is Friedrich Merz, representing the Christian Democratic Party (CDU).

His party is now in a coalition with the Social Democratic Party (SPD) which was in charge in the last legislative session. At the moment, the parliament is reorganizing their committees, The German Large Families Association considers that is a good opportunity to get in touch with newly-elected members in order to present them ideas and challenges as large families.

Although unfortunately, families only played a minor role in the election campaigns of the bigger parties, in the coalition contract the politicians agreed on some kind of family card. We issued a press release about this card right on the International Day of the Families to create visibility for this topic. It is not clearly defined what the proposed family card should look like. Therefore, the large families organization in Germany (KRFD) is going to get in touch with politicians of the governing parties to support them about better policies for families. It is about time that large families get more attention and that their challenges become more visible.
