Alghero and Bacau have entered into a collaboration agreement aimed at developing institutional activities and joint initiatives in various fields, from culture to sports, from economics to tourism. On 24 October, at Porta Terra, Mayors Raimondo Cacciotto and Lucian-Daniel Stanciu-Viziteu signed the agreement. The ceremony was attended by Regional Councilor Valdo Di Nolfo and Maria Grazia Salaris, Councilor for Personal, Family, and Community Wellbeing.

In recent months, the municipal administration has already initiated a joint initiative on family wellbeing with the Municipality of Bacau, a city of 136,000 inhabitants in the historic region of Moldova. This initiative is part of the Better Future Festival, a European project coordinated by ELFAC (European Confederation of Large Families), which brings together European municipalities to exchange experiences.

The agreement represents an important step forward in the institutional and cultural cooperation between the two cities, aimed at promoting shared best practices in family welfare policies, social development, and European collaboration.

“Alghero is a city open to engaging with organizations that bring good practices and new ideas to share,” said Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto. “In particular, dialogue with the city’s large and well-established Romanian community represents an added value. With this agreement,” the mayor added, “we intend to deepen various areas of collaboration, creating networks and programs capable of promoting development and offering Alghero an increasingly European and international dimension.

” “We are extremely pleased and proud that the work of the Office for Family Policies has now consolidated to the point of being able to engage effectively at the European level,” said Councilor Maria Grazia Salaris. “This offers us the opportunity to collaborate synergistically with other organizations, jointly launching new cooperation and development initiatives on issues closely related to family policies.”
