FEFN joins new “Alliance for Parenting” to call for stronger family support in Spain

FEFN has partnered with several social organizations to launch the “Alliance for Parenting”, a joint initiative advocating for stronger support for children and families in Spain.

Together with Save the Children and other family associations, the Alliance seeks to raise awareness of the increasing difficulties families face as a result of the high cost of raising children, job insecurity and insufficient family support policies.

One of the Alliance’s main demands is the introduction of a universal child’s benefit, similar to measures already in place in many European countries. To gain public support, the organizations have also launched a nationwide signature campaign.

The initiative was presented outside the Spanish Parliament on the International Day of Families through a symbolic display of baby strollers filled with everyday childcare essentials, representing the ongoing financial burden of parenting from infancy through adolescence.

The Alliance is also calling for broader family support measures, including extended paid parental leave, improved childcare and work-life balance policies, stronger protection for single-parent and large families, and better support for families raising children with disabilities.
