Who wins the future: Companies and Communities Family-Friendly

20 October, 2023 | 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

NAPLES (ITALY), OCTOBER 20, 2023 – CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

In the Nando Rocco Hall of the Palazzo della Borsa Merci, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM

WHO WINS THE FUTURE – COMPANIES AND COMMUNITIES FAMILY-FRIENDLY”

Demographic decline, an aging population, brain drain, and depopulation are affecting Campania, putting the region’s economic development at risk. Businesses struggle to find qualified personnel, and the decreasing size of families jeopardizes the existence and continuity of family businesses and artisans that have long characterized the region.

To retain young talent, encourage the formation of new families, and attract families with children who guarantee the future of communities, it is essential to make the regions more attractive, more people- and family-friendly.

Companies are also called upon to participate in creating a more favorable environment, both in the workplace and within the community, in line with the European Community’s guidelines, which require companies to provide a sustainability social report based on ESG criteria (environment, social, governance). This will become mandatory from 2025 for companies with over 250 employees and is poised to become a common practice for all companies seeking financing from banks and investors. This demonstrates their positive social impact on the community and territory through social projects, corporate welfare policies, gender equality, and work-life balance.

With the conference “Who Wins the Future: Family-Friendly Companies and Communities,” we aim to launch the development of a “family-friendly community” that can respond to the challenges of demographic decline and sustainability.

“The future will be won” by the municipalities that can best meet the needs of their citizens, creating the conditions for a better quality of life.
“The future will be won” by those who listen and address the demands of women who do not want to give up motherhood and a career.
“The future will be won” by companies that offer their employees a work and life style that is attentive to their needs and, together with municipalities, build a “family-friendly” community.
“Winning the future” is possible, as demonstrated by the experiences of female entrepreneurs who have anticipated the European Commission’s guidelines through their specific sensibilities, creating a family-friendly environment within their own companies and in line with ESG criteria. The municipalities that choose to work for the well-being and quality of life of young people, working women, and families will win the future, as demonstrated by the experiences of the certified “Family in Italy” municipalities and members of the European Network of Family-Friendly Communities.

All stakeholders – families, companies, administrations – are called upon to forge a territorial pact focused on the well-being of families and a new way of thinking about work, time, and life projects “family-friendly”. Because they will be the ones to win the future.
