At the beginning of 2026, Lapsiperheiden Etujärjestö ry (Finnish Association for Families with Children) launched a comprehensive strategic renewal process. The new strategy, to be completed during spring 2026, will guide the organization’s work in building a more sustainable and family-friendly future for families with children in Finland.
The timing is significant. With parliamentary elections approaching next year, this is an important moment to clarify priorities, strengthen advocacy, and contribute constructively to national discussions on family policy and societal development.
A key objective of the strategy process is to reaffirm the role and significance of families in society — economically, socially, and culturally. The organization emphasizes the need for a more positive and forward-looking tone when discussing families in public debate. Families are not a burden on society; they are a foundation for its continuity and resilience.
As part of the ongoing strategy sessions, the board will also explore how the realities and needs of large families can be more strongly reflected in future advocacy work.
Kristiina Paju, Chair of the Board, highlights the collaborative spirit of the process:
“It is inspiring to work on the strategy and see that we are truly on the same page within the board. There is a shared understanding that families matter — and that the way we speak about families in society should reflect their value and importance.”
The new strategy will provide a clear framework for advocacy, partnerships, and initiatives during the upcoming election cycle and beyond. The final strategy will be published in late spring 2026.
