Representation of large families increases in Portugal

The Portuguese Large Families Association (APFN) enters its 27th anniversary in 2026 and with them also follows new challenges and goals. APFN has reached a new milestone and represents more than 14 thousand families, a number that reflects the experience of more than 70 thousand people.

APFN carries with it the concerns, challenges, and responsibility of representing 14,000 families spread across the country. This means many tons of food, many liters of milk, countless kilometers in school rides, and thousands of euros spent on housing, basic services, and taxes.

APFN continues with its mission to represent and defend the interests of families with three or more children and has raised alarms through public interventions, drawing the attention of public authorities to the challenges identified and the need for measures to address them. In 2026, one of the priorities is the issue of housing. We started with new tools for families linked to the Family IMI, so that it becomes a universal measure and does not depend on the Portuguese municipality where you live.
