Family Day brought together more than 1,100 participants at Tallinn Zoo (Estonia)

On the 24th of May, the NPO Estonian Association of Large Families hosted its traditional Family Day at Tallinn Zoo, bringing together 1,172 participants from 212 large families across Estonia.

Families enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the day, including an orienteering game organised in cooperation with the Liikumismängud team. Children had the opportunity to meet popular characters, while all participants received gift bags at the finish line.

During the event, the Large Family of the Year title was awarded to the Laikre family from Tallinn. The family received a €10,000 scholarship from Bigbank and a handmade patchwork quilt, a long-standing tradition of the event.

According to Raili Maasing, President of the NPO Estonian Association of Large Families, the jury selected the Laikre family as Large Family of the Year 2026 in recognition of their exceptional dedication, strong family values, and contribution to Estonia’s cultural and educational life. The jury highlighted the parents’ commitment to raising six children while fostering a value-based upbringing and creating an environment that encourages personal growth, responsibility, and active participation in society.

The event was supported by Bigbank, Lidl, Saku Brewery, and the Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs through the project “Estonia that values families.”
