New president in Obitelji 3plus (Croatia): strengthening community, advocacy, and family support

During the reporting period, the Association Obitelji 3plus elected new leadership. Josipa Nemet was appointed as the new President of the Association. She is a wife, mother of five children, and holds a PhD in Molecular Biology.

For many years, Josipa Nemet has dedicated both her professional and public engagement on issues related to families, parenting, children, and healthy neurodevelopment. Through her work, she actively advocates for stronger protection of children, the empowerment of parents, and the creation of a social environment that recognises and values the importance of family life.

Upon assuming the presidency, she presented a vision for the Association focused on strengthening the sense of community among members, encouraging greater member participation, and reinforcing advocacy for family-friendly policies in Croatia. She emphasises that children and the families who joyfully welcome them are among the greatest assets of
Croatian society deserves stronger recognition and support within both public discourse and public policy.

To improve communication and enable more active participation of members from across Croatia, the Association launched the Obitelji 3plus WhatsApp Community established several thematic working groups, bringing together members according to their interests, expertise, and professional experience.

The working groups cover legal affairs, social media and communications, website and digital infrastructure, accounting and administration, demography and family policy advocacy, international cooperation, project development and partnerships, as well as membership, local branches, and event organisation.

This new organisational model encourages greater member engagement, facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experience, and supports the development of new projects, partnerships, and advocacy initiatives. It further strengthens the Association’s organisational capacity and lays the foundation for an even more active role at both the national and European levels in promoting the interests of families with three or more children.

This feels like more than just a busy summer—it is the beginning of an important new chapter for Obitelji 3plus. If this momentum continues beyond the summer, the Association has a real opportunity to strengthen its organisational capacity, deepen member engagement, and further establish itself as a leading family organisation in Croatia and within The European family movement.
