The Croatian association of large families Obitelji 3Plus has been very busy this autumn.
New Families 3plus exchange fairs in Croatia
Croatian Large Families Association “Obitelji 3plus“ hosted several children’s clothing, shoes and toys exchange fairs in Zagreb, Sesvete and Varaždin throughout the last two months. The idea is for people to exchange children’s equipment, clothing and toys in order to ease the lives of families facing financial or other challenges. Looking at it from an ecological perspective, especially in the context of reducing waste and conserving resources, promoting the circular economy, and raising awareness about sustainability, the exchange fairs are very positive activities in which we are all invited to participate as a community.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers, without whom such events would not be possible. Items that were not exchanged were donated to those in need.
Educational Lecture “Virtual Life of Children – The Role of Parents” in Split
Branch of the 3plus Families Association – Split-Dalmatia County has just begun with its work and for its first activity, they chose to help parents address the issue of social networks impact on children and their mental health.
Professor Danijela Perić Krstulović was the main speaker and she was talking from her experience of dealing with young people as a social pedagogue and psychotherapist, as well as a parent, who has a chance to see what peer communication looks like. She indicated potential threats and challenges of peer communication without parental control. Children today are children of the digital age and parents must be aware that these are different times and there are different solutions for some of problems that weren’t here 20 years ago. Kids learn by the model principle and the presence of parents is the best protective factor.
Another New Branch of Large Family Association
Bearing in mind our goal, the aim of strengthening community and social cohesion in making better conditions in our society not only for the family, but especially for big families, we have found it important to establish another branch of our association in our country.
The meeting of the assembly of members of the branch of the association Obitelji 3plus – Međimurje county was held at the beginning of December and they have selected their branch manager and his substitute.
Christmas exchange gift giving for 3plus families
We all heard of Secret Santa. We tried it last year and families have participated in this activity throughout Croatia. This year our Large Families Association “Obitelji 3plus” is again trying to connect families to exchange small gifts of kindness and make holidays even more happy. We matched 38 3plus families and true friendships blossomed from these past exchanges. We are still waiting for this year’s feedback – the gift giving is still ongoing!
Partners of our Large Family card (card where members of our association can get discounts in certain services and/or products of its interest – more about this card you can get HERE) have heard about this great activity and also wanted be a part of gift giving chain for large families. We have asked families that want to participate to send us their Christmas stories of how they manage family events. We are expecting lots of creative emails from them in the following week.
