France: Conference on the declining birth rate

This year, the main event of Famille & Liberté, one of the most recent associacions in joining ELFAC, was a conference on the declining birth rate in France, particularly over the last three years.

We had excellent speakers: Gérard-François Dumont, Professeur à la Sorbonne, Jean-Didier Lecaillon, professeur émérite à l’Université de Paris-Panthéon, as well as two journalists and four other speakers who shared their experiences of initiatives in Hungary and Italy to promote birth rates. We also heard from a father, the founder of Academia Cristiana, and a mother, journalist, who is the author of the book L’enfant est l’avenir de l’homme.

Sixty people attended the conference, including ten or twelve young people. Everyone was very enthusiastic about the quality of the conference and its welcoming atmosphere.

We also sent our quarterly newsletters to our subscribers and benefactors (approximately 4,000 people). The topics covered were: EVARS, the digital divide, euthanasia, and mental health.

New book

«Le Droit naturel, une ressource pour notre temps» (‘Natural Law, a Resource for Our Times’), published by Boleine, was presented in a former conference.

This book brings together legal experts to address the crisis of meaning that law is experiencing, increasingly reduced to a power struggle between wills and desires, a simple lever to support individual claims. The authors explore avenues for rebuilding law by proposing a different vision of it, based on justice.

This book is edited by Yvonne Flour, Professor Emeritus of Law, administrator of Famille et Liberté, and Aude Mirkovic, Senior Lecturer in Law, President of Juristes pour l’Enfance.
