Poland: First meeting of the Parliamentary group for Large Families

On 9 January, the Polish Parliament held its first meeting of the year of the Parliamentary Group for Large Families.

The group was established on the initiative of MP Andrzej Gut-Mostowy, a father of four, in response to the real need to represent the interests of large families in Parliament. MP Andrzej Gut-Mostowy was appointed chair of the group, with MP Jacek Tomczak as vice-chair. Urszula Pasławska, Urszula Podgórska, Marcin Ociepa, and Filip Kaczyński, among others, also participate in the group’s work.

During the meeting, plans of action for the near future were established. The first important event will be a demographic conference in the Sejm on 25 February.

‘The family is Poland’s raison d’état,’ emphasized MP Marcin Ociepa, noting that all laws should be assessed in terms of their impact on the family.

The Large Families Association of Poland, ZDR 3 Plus, expressed its gratitude to the parliamentarians for their openness and willingness to cooperate. For them, this is a turning point – after 18 years of activity, the door to real parliamentary dialogue is finally opening.

What is particularly important is that this is a cross-party initiative – because families matter, not political views

ZDR3 Plus believes that thanks to this commission, the voice of large families will finally be heard directly in Parliament.
