Romania: Large families association ASFANU was awarded the Order of Merit of the country

On 19 May, ASFANU, the Association of Large Families in Romania, was awarded the Order of Merit for the Promotion of Human Rights and Social Commitment, Knight Class, by the interim President of Romania. The award was presented by the Minister of Culture, Ms Natalia Intotero, at a ceremony that brought together people from the worlds of culture, art and civil society.

Irina Granzulea, president of ASFANU, had the honour of receiving this distinction together with the association’s management team, Mihaela Mosora, Vice-President, and Brenda-Andreea Piuaru, Secretary General. She thanked the distinction:

“I am a mother of three children and have been involved in ASFANU for over 6 years, where we are building a strong community, putting the needs of families with 3 or more children on the public agenda and proposing concrete solutions: from public policies and awareness campaigns to educational projects and direct support. I strongly believe that the family is a valuable social resource and that the voice of large families deserves to be heard, understood and respected. This recognition gives us the courage to move forward. Change does not happen overnight, but it is possible when we remain united, involved and persistent. Thank you to everyone who believes in this cause and chooses to get involved. We still have a lot to say and do.”
