APFN with positive results in 2020

Although 2020 was a very different year due to the covid-19 pandemic, the Portuguese Large Families Association (APFN) recorded an increase in the number of associated families, reaching 9,309 families in 2020.

In the last year, it reached 1,079 new families, which means that about 90 new families join each month.

68% of the families found out about APFN through families, friends and acquaintances and 23% through social networks, 16% from the media and companies in partnership with APFN.

In such a different year, APFN fulfilled its mission of representing and defending the interests of families with three or more children. In times of pandemic, public policies have moved to help families, but always in an unrealistic view of what has truly been experienced by many.

APFN fulfilled its goal of being an attentive and active association and triggered alarms, with public interventions calling the public authorities’ attention to the challenges identified and the need for measures to address them.

APFN continued to provide legal support to its members and in 2020 focused on the issues of telework and family support. The negotiation of specific partnerships for home deliveries during lockdown, as well as the creation of online groups of family networks for the purpose of mutual support, were other APFNs actions.

During 2020, APFN also carried out the survey of the specific measures created by municipalities during the pandemic and brought together in a study about the family support policies created in Europe by the various governments during the pandemic.

At APFN, the year 2020 was also marked by the launch of the exclusive digital tool for members, the APFN Community.
