ASFANU, the large families association of Romania, was present in the Parliament, with good news for large families.
On November 18, ASFANU was present at the debate in the Health and Family Committee in the Chamber of Deputies, where two important projects for large families were discussed:
- Large Families Law – a project that defines what a large family means and proposes concrete measures to support the 301,800 large families living in Romania. Although initiated in 2020, the law has not been debated in a parliamentary committee since 2021. Now, he’s got another shot! Deputies decided not to reject her, but to give her the time necessary to improve. This means that we have the opportunity to contribute to the shape of a better and more efficient law for numerous families.
- The law on the establishment of the National Large Families Day, which proposes the establishment of an official day dedicated to large families, will not be a separate law, but will be directly included in the Large Families Law.
Through the voice of Irina Granzulea, the president of ASFANU, we have sent a clear message: large families exist, have specific needs and deserve to be recognized, supported and respected. It’s time for their normality to be reflected in the legislation.
What’s next ?
ASFANU have work to do! In order to bring well argued proposals. they are looking for lawyers to volunteer support them. If you can help or know someone who is, let them know!
ASFANU thanks the deputy Robert Sighiartau for his support and involvement in this effort!
