Celebrating mothers and women: Two community events in Romania

On the occasion of International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day, the Romanian Large Families Association (ASFANU) organized, on March 14th, two meaningful community events in two cities across Romania, dedicated to supporting mothers from large families and strengthening the connections between them.

On March 14th, in Bucharest, the third edition of “Sus Inima, Mamă!” (“Keep Your Spirits Up, Mom!”) brought together 18 mothers raising 3 to 7 children, alongside 40 children and 15 volunteers. The event created a warm and supportive space where mothers could reconnect, share experiences, and enjoy a few hours dedicated to themselves.

The meeting focused on encouragement, resilience, and the power of community. The message shared by participants was clear: mothers need these moments of connection to recharge, feel supported, and realize they are not alone in their journey.

At the same time, children enjoyed a lively program of creative and playful activities—painting, dancing, and games—guided by volunteers.

A second event took place on the same day in Brașov, where 19 mothers of 3+ children gathered for second edition of “Sus Inima, Mamă!” (“Keep Your Spirits Up, Mom!”). The meeting offered a safe and open space for dialogue, reflection, and mutual encouragement.

During the meeting participants explored the strengths and “superpowers” of mothers in large families and discussed how confidence and community support can create real impact. The conversation also touched on ASFANU’s initiative to promote certification for large families in Brașov and ways to increase civic engagement.

Both events highlighted the importance of creating spaces where mothers of large families can feel heard, supported, and empowered—while also building stronger, more connected communities around large families.
