ELFAC’s president attends the Trento Family Festival

Strong concerns about Italian demographic situation was at the centre of the opening session of Trento Family Festival, yesterday 2 December.  With only 440,000 newborns in 2018 and fertility rates at 1,29, Italy, is facing a situation of deep unbalance that for a long time has been scarcely recognized and addressed.

The eighth edition of the Festival was open at the presence of Elena Bonetti, Italian Minister of Gender Equality and Family, Trento’s Mayor Alessandro Andreatta and the President of Trentino Province, Maurizio Fugazza.

Mrs Regina Maroncelli, president of ELFAC, took part to the conference talking about good practices in Europe, explaining Hungarian and Polish family-friendly policies where families are seen as a vital investment for the future of the Country. “In Italy, ideology” said mrs Maroncelli”Is still refraining from a strong commitment to family at a national level. Things are  different at local levels, where the “family-frienly” certification process and well-being and family-oriented policies of Province of Trento has proved to be effective”.
