On April 11th 2026, we went on a pilgrimage to Mariathal with MÁNCSE (Large Family Association of Mátyusföld).
This pilgrimage site is a small village close to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Many miracles have already occurred at this historic shrine, the memory of which is preserved in the many gratitude plaques around the altar of the Virgin Mary. We also came here to give thanks to the Virgin Mary for each other, for our community and for our families.
The festive mass was celebrated by Father Tamás Molnár, the pastor of the Hungarian Catholics in Bratislava. At the end of the mass, he blessed the married couples present who are celebrating one of their jubilee wedding anniversaries this year. During the Holy Mass, we also offered ourselves and our families to the protection of our Heavenly Mother.
After enjoying a delicious lunch we had a short conversation between the families present. The family members briefly told their life stories, shared with us their experiences and insights how God helps our families through difficult times in our lives.
The program continued at Devín Castle, where history and nature meet in special harmony. The fortress, located at the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers, has been an important strategic point since the Middle Ages and has guarded the borders for centuries. During our walk, we recalled the castle’s eventful history while admiring the stunning panorama.
In the calm, peaceful environment, the children could play with each other, discovering the spacious spaces and exciting corners of the castle ruins. Meanwhile, the parents had time to talk, get to know each other, and take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The power of our community was tangible as we experienced this special day together. At the end of this trip and pilgrimage all of our participants returned home refreshed and full of experiences.
